Everest climber inspires Interface

At the recent Interface national conference in Christchurch the usual business planning stuff was given a good review – how do we ensure we meet our objectives in a difficult economic environment! What challenges do we face for 2011?

The next morning Mark Inglis walks into the room and explains some of the difficulties he needed to overcome in climbing Mt Everest with artificial legs. Sub zero temperatures, oxygen deficiency, vertical cliffs and titanium legs. "If you want it badly enough, anything's possible" – so it seems from the summit photos. Shame about the frostbitten fingers! No frostbite on the toes – they went under the surgeon's knife 30 years ago.

With Mark it's not just about the mountains – his list of achievements make stunning reading. Cycling at the Para Olympics, aid programmes for paraplegics in Asia, an energy supplement business, public speaking and motivation. It's quite a story.

Now about those Interface business plans!
